"The Details Are Not The Details. They Make The Design." — Charles Eames

The Brief

The Bombay Store’ renowned for its history, heritage & handicrafts offers some of India’s most beautiful and intricate artifacts.

However, their flagship store at PM Road, Mumbai exuded a very heavy, dated, woody vibe. Blocky fixtures were lined up against the windows, creating clutter, and giving an unfavourable first impression to passersby.

Approach

We recommended

1. Spatial interventions that were both feasible & affordable

2. Creating visual relief via a stronger, more cohesive color palette

3. Analyzing sales and identifying complementary product clusters

4. Developing appropriate VM infrastructure

5. Bringing it all together with a strong brand story

The Impact

From staid to stunning, the windows attracted so much attention even while they were being setup that several products were being replaced alongside.

The impact of the upgrade was so high that not only did the brand overachieve their targets by a healthy percentage, they continued to see a robust double-digit growth for the next 2-3 quarters.
