"Less, But Better." — Dieter Rams
The Brief
‘Dadu’s a premium mithai brand with a chain of outlets and restaurants in the South was keen to onboard a retail design agency for their upcoming stores at GMR Hyderabad airport terminals.
They were impressed by our eye for detail and product integration with space which their F&B architectural firm was unable to provide.
Challenges
The retail outlets for packaged foods of the most renowned sweet shops in the country were brimming over with boxed products, much like a value-oriented supermarket.
Approach
We realized it was important for the retail experience to braid these 3 design aspects
1 - the brand legacy,
2 - the cultural heritage of the south
3 - an uber-premium and international tonality.
After intensive research and brain-storming, we interlaced cultural elements of Kolam and Kanjeevaram with the brand identity and materiality to create a one-of-a-kind retail design.
The Impact
This design philosophy was further extended into a display strategy that allowed high impact and easy browsing for airport travellers.
The icing on the cake are the customized product highlighters, an element that is not only unique to the brand but possibly never been done before by other brands in this segment.
Our client was thrilled with her decision to onboard us as the retail design agency.
